# Automatic PDF Conversion

Generate PDF copies from supported files in a selected folder for finalization, exchange and archiving. PDF alone is not tamper-proof; permissions, versions and appropriate signing still matter.

## Configuration

1. Select the folder and whether to include subfolders or existing files.
2. Choose listed extensions or All supported files.
3. Decide whether to delete originals after successful conversion. Test with deletion disabled first.
4. Save and verify output content, layout and page counts.

## Formats and Limits

All files that can be previewed in a flat, two-dimensional view are within PDF conversion scope, except audio/video and 3D. Task extension options and the required preview and conversion modules must support the file being processed. Documents, images and engineering drawings use their corresponding converters; ONLYOFFICE is not the sole converter for all formats. If a format within this scope is absent from task options, ask an administrator to check modules and versions.

Use the current UI limits for existing-file counts and file sizes. Source revisions differ; a fixed 5,000-file limit or format count is not a universal promise. Check failures and oversized files rather than treating them as successfully converted.

## Deletion and Task Order

Deleting originals after successful conversion is an option of this task, not an independent cleanup task. See [automation task order](https://www.babel.cc/public/babelwiki/en/automation-overview.html). Keep important originals and independent backups where needed.

## Conversion component for Office documents

BabelBird’s deeply customized ONLYOFFICE supports Office online editing, Office comments and PDF conversion. It is separate from BabelViewer previews and annotations; all files that can be previewed in a flat, two-dimensional view are within PDF conversion scope, except audio/video and 3D. Office input formats and task options depend on the customized deployment and enabled modules. Other types, such as images and engineering drawings, still require their corresponding converters.
